ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

1 in 4 people experience thoughts of suicide

Suicide is the biggest killer of people under the age of 35 in the UK

Over 200 Schoolchildren are lost to suicide each year

This is why we exist and why we are on a mission to use the power of comedy to raise awareness and smash the stigma attached to suicide.

We use humour to break the silence and normalize conversations about suicide. Our mission is to provide a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported in their journey toward preventing suicide

WHAT WE DO

We use comedy to provide engaging suicide prevention and well being workshops to businesses, workplaces and community groups.

A combination which on paper shouldn't work, but one which we embrace to give attendees plenty of laughs alongside a serious message.

OUR FOUNDER

Tom North is a stand up comedian and suicide prevention worker based in North West England. Tom created Stand Up To Suicide CIC after he was made redundant from his helpline manager role with PAPYRUS, Prevention of Young Suicide due to the charity going into administration in September 2026.

Tom is passionate about supporting people who are struggling with thoughts of suicide and has always seen comedy as a great platform to raise awareness and deliver key messages.

"I have worked in suicide prevention for a number of years and what I have found is that humour is such a powerful tool to build rapport, manage wellbeing and essentially keep people safe. I want to give people confidence to talk about suicide openly and normalise conversations as well as reiterating the importance of reaching out for support."
